Phil Wood ISO Hub: Review

The New Phil Wood ISO hub uses the ISO standard 6-bolt design to mount the cog onto the hub. This transfers the torsional load parallel to the thread (traditional track hub) to perpendicular to the retaining bolts (ISO hub). The bolts are grade 8/class 8.9 with a tensile strength rated at 150k psi. This gives the maximum shear stress of any track hub system available. If you are a heavy, aggressive rider, keeping your cog securely fastened is easier and more secure with the ISO hub/cog system.

Hubsets are available in 32h and 36h patterns in both silver and black anodized. The front hub flange is higher than the high-flange Phil hubs and rear spacing is track standard 120mm. Hubs are offered in a single-fixed, double-fixed, fixed-freewheel, and fixed-freewheel (White Industries freewheel-specific) configuration. Cogs are available only in 1/8″ and in 16-20 teeth. It is strongly recommended to use the Phil ISO track cogs with the Phil bolts to ensure a proper fit.
